Iris Bearded

 Popular, hardy perennial known for its large, showy, often fragrant flowers with a fuzzy "beard" (a caterpillar-like row of hairs) on the lower petals, thriving in sunny spots with well-drained soil, and growing from fleshy rhizomes that prefer to sit at the soil surface. These dramatic, sword-leafed plants come in countless colours and patterns, adding vertical interest to borders and making excellent cut flowers from late spring into summer.
